KICKING OFF THE SUMMER PARK JAM WEEKEND FRIDAY 8/14/2026

We kick off Summer Park Jam Weekend by bringing it all together!  FRIDAY AUG 14th - Our CEO Session$ evolved directly from our long-standing Paid Summer CEO Youth Leadership and Workforce Development Internship which provides teens with critical training in branding, financial literacy, public relations, conflict resolution, and career pathway options.

CEO Session$ as a Summer Park Jam statement started in 2023.

We needed to elevate our TRUE Skool Hip Hop Culture/Commerce/Consciousness framework beyond just our internal Summer CEO youth cohort and broadcast it boldly as a mindful compliment to Saturday's non-stop outdoor Fest.

WHY? We work with so many incredible partners and brilliant creatives embedded into the broader Milwaukee & Midwestern creative ecosystems; Media, Fashion, Music, Marketing, Project Management, Film, etc . AND TRUE Skool specializes in building unlikely cross-sector collaborations that are outside of cultural arts or community development. We wanted to invite other young and young adult entrepreneurs in our city to connect and network with downtown business entities and potential new clients or collabs. As always we wanted to highlight and promote the amazing youth and adult we work with! There is so much opportUNITY in Milwaukee!

In the midst of celebrating the "50th Anniversary' of Hip Hop that year- when we brought hometown legends Arrested Development & Kinto Sol to the Milwaukee celebration, we were officially launching the MKE Hip Hop Archive Project & permanently pivoting the festival experience from a purely celebratory one-day community gathering into an institutional business-to-business masterclass. Inviting everyone Downtown, on a Friday afternoon before the fun , let's get to the business.

WHO is Rob Swift? Rob Swift is an influential DJ, Turntablist, and Educator. Emerging from Queens, New York, he rose to prominence as an original member of the pioneering turntablist crew The X-Ecutioners, with whom he achieved commercial and critical success—most notably on the hit "It's Goin' Down" featuring Linkin Park.

As a DJ/Educator, Swift is celebrated for pushing the creative boundaries of the turntable as a musical instrument, releasing acclaimed albums such as The Ablist and The Architect, a unique fusion of turntablism and classical composition.

In addition to his work in broadcasting and film, Swift helps preserve Hip-Hop Culture by teaching DJ skills and music theory as a professor at The New School in New York City.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The City of Hip-Hop positions a unique conceptualization of the history of Hip-Hop, that it was a combination of forces that produced the environment for Hip-Hop to specifically grow in the geographies of New York City and its boroughs.

The City of Hip-Hop shows how Hip-Hop is a socio-political reaction that created an alternate reality with a geographic specificity, and it is the interplay with those forces that nurtured it to become the culture force that we know it today.

Once those of us as fans of the culture zoom out to see such a bigger picture, a much-needed criticism and retelling of the culture and art of Hip-Hop emerges as our understanding.

This book is essential for preservers of the culture, students, scholars, and general readers interested in urban planning, urban design, urban geography, place-making, American Studies, Cultural Studies, Black Studies, and Latin American Studies - WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT IT!!
