Programs and Services

TRUE Skool offers two main programs; Urban Arts and Adopt a Community.

TRUE Skool believes that the cultural arts and arts education is a vital part of the community and the arts have a great impact on the success of a young person’s ability to succeed as adults. The need for arts education is great, but is scare in our public school systems. With so many schools no longer offering basic art and music classes, TRUE Skool fills that void through our Urban Arts Program by offering arts education in a nontraditional setting with curriculum that can be taken directly into a traditional classroom.

"Understanding and acknowledging the incredible economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture, we must always remember their fundamental value. They foster beauty, creativity, originality, and vitality. The arts inspire us, sooth us, provoke us, involve us, and connect us. But they also create jobs and contribute to the economy."
-Robert L. Lynch, President and CEO, Americans for the Arts

TRUE Skool takes a unique approach to strengthen and beautify communities through grassroots community-based social, environmental, and artistic initiatives. The Adopt a Community Program provides community service and volunteer opportunities through the following activities; clean-ups/illegal graffiti removal, community gardens/yard beautification/storm drain marking, and public art/community murals. All of these activities are offered to businesses and residents in the adopted areas at no cost. Our goal is to provide neighborhood beautification and community service opportunities from June-September each year. Expected outcomes are to create more green space and safer pedestrian walkways, create public art to help deter vandalism, teach youth and community residents about urban food production though community gardens and to provide over 200 hours of community service to youth and adult volunteers from June to September.
