Element Classes
The Element Classes promote the arts and culture through education and opportunity. The goal is to deter negative behavior and provide safe and recreational opportunities for youth during the critical after-school hours and weekends. Element Classes also promote Hip Hop Culture preservation and performing opportunities.

TRUE KULTURE
This class consists of multiple workshop topics and Element classes combined. This offers participants an opportunity to learn, engage and participate in all things Hip Hop.

This class meets every Tuesday from 5-6:30pm at TRUE Skool. Email or Call to register now! New session begins January 2009.

 

Breakdancing
Breakdancing classes provide education on dance, culture, fitness and healthy living. We explore the ties this dance form has historically and culturally to other forms of movement and rhythms. Participants in class are also involved in organizing, promoting and participating in breakdancing events and performances that allow them to earn income and learn entrepreneurial skills.

DJ Classes
DJ classes provide music and cultural education. We explore the art of DJing and its ties historically and culturally to other forms of rhythms. Participants in class are also involved in organizing, promoting and participating in DJ events and performances that allow them to earn income and learn entrepreneurial skills.

Classes will begin November 11th - December 16th 2008. Tuesdays from 5-6:30pm.

 

Graffiti Art
Graffiti Art classes provides art, world history and cultural education. We explore the historical and cultural forms of art that have derived from social movements and described as “untraditional art” dating back to ancient times. Participants in class are also involved in organizing, promoting and participating in art related events, mural projects, commissioned art and demonstrations of live art that allow them to earn income and learn entrepreneurial skills.

This class meets every Thursday from 5-6:30pm at TRUE Skool. Classes are now closed for 2008 unless you are referred to us becuase of a illegal graffiti offense/ticket. Call for more info on how to enroll and to find out when open enrollment takes place. New session begins January 2009.

 

The Art of MCing
Creative Writing classes promote language skills, culture, history and music education. Participants in class analyze current and past lyrics in order to understand social commentary and influence through music. Participants also are involved in creative writing workshops, learning the truth about the music and entertainment industry, organizing, promoting and participating in open mic events and commissioned performances that allow them to earn income and learn entrepreneurial skills.

Classes are held at Marshall CLC Fridays at 4:15pm. New session begins Januray 2009.
